Our Commitment

Mapu Marrung is a community wellness application designed for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We respect your privacy, cultural values, and your right to control your personal information.

1. Who Can Use This App

This app is for people aged 12 years and older. By creating an account, you confirm that you are at least 12 years old.

2. Information We Collect

We only collect information that is necessary to provide the app.

A. Account Information

  • Email address

We do not collect your name, address, or other identifying details.

B. Wellbeing Information (With Your Consent)

If you choose to use wellbeing features, we collect:

  • Emergency contact details
  • Mood ratings
  • Timestamps of entries

This information is only collected after you agree to the well-being consent screen.

C. Technical Information

We use:

  • Firebase Analytics
  • Firebase Crashlytics
  • Firebase Cloud Messaging (Push Notifications)

These services may collect device and usage information to improve app performance and reliability.

3. Guest Mode

You can use parts of the app without creating an account.

In Guest Mode:

  • No personal data is sent to our servers
  • Progress is stored only on your device
  • Well-being tracking features are not available

To track well-being history, you must create an account and provide consent.

4. Why We Collect Your Information

We collect your information to:

  • Provide well-being tracking features
  • Allow you to view your personal history
  • Improve app performance and reliability
  • Send important notifications (if enabled)

We do not sell your information.

5. Where Your Data Is Stored

All account and well-being data is stored securely in Australia.

Your wellbeing data:

  • Is encrypted in transit (HTTPS, TLS 1.2+)
  • Is encrypted at rest
  • Is accessible only to you

We do not store your data outside Australia.

6. How We Protect Your Information

We use industry-standard security measures, including:

  • Secure HTTPS connections
  • Encrypted databases
  • Secure password hashing
  • Secure mobile credential storage (iOS Keychain / Android Keystore)
  • Token expiration and rotation

7. Your Rights

Under Australian privacy law, you have the right to:

Access Your Data
You can view your wellbeing history inside the app.

Export Your Data
You may request a copy of your data (or use the in-app export feature if available).

Delete Your Account
You can permanently delete your account from the Settings screen.

When you delete your account:

  • Your email
  • Your well-being history
  • Your preferences

are permanently removed from our systems.

Deletion is processed immediately or within 24 hours.

This action cannot be undone.

9. Third-Party Services

We use the following services:

  • Firebase Analytics
  • Firebase Crashlytics
  • Firebase Cloud Messaging
  • Secure Australian data hosting

These providers process limited technical data on our behalf to support app functionality.
